Carron has been dancing since she was 4 years old. She danced competitively till she was 18 and continued dancing off and on throughout the intervening years.

In 2013, Carron joined Annesbrook School of Performing Arts in Nelson as their principal Tap Tutor but also took preschool dance classes. She grew the tap genre from 3 classes to 17 with students aged 4 to adult. Carron also introduced a number of students to competitive work during this time.

In 2021, having returned to her home town of Christchurch, Carron set up her own dance school, Azure Dance, based out of Aidanfield Christian School where she also teaches full time both in a primary level whānau class and in middle school within the performing arts.

Azure Dance teaches in a manner consistent with Christian values. “It is important to me that content is appropriate to the children’s age in terms of themes, movements, lyrics and costuming,” says Carron.

The school uses a variety of music genre from classical to contemporary, christian to broadway, and often incorporates elements from other dance styles as appropriate.
